INVISALIGN

Another option for orthodontics

When people think about orthodontics, people usually think of adolescents with metal “braces” on their teeth. While most orthodontic patients are younger, we now see more and more adult patients pursuing orthodontics for a number of reasons.

For some of our patients it is a way to improve function and make oral hygiene easier. Others do it to as a first step to create an ideal alignment for further cosmetic dental procedures such as porcelain veneers. For some it is their turn to do something for themselves that they’ve always wanted to do.

Regardless of the patient’s reason for choosing to do orthodontics, the idea of using metal wires and brackets is no longer the only option. Invisalign is now a great option for patients who would like to have straighter teeth, but do not want metal braces. Invisalign moves teeth using a series of clear trays (called aligners) that are barely noticeable. Typically these aligners are changed every 2 weeks until the treatment is complete. The aligners are not only more aesthetic, but are removable, allowing for normal brushing and flossing during treatment. The result of this is healthier gum tissue during treatment.

In the office we have been treating patients with Invisalign for more than three years and I can tell you that the results are real and our patient’s have been ecstatic about their results. Below are some before and after photos of some patients that we have treated.

Although not all situations can be treated with Invisalign, we have found that most can be. If you are wondering if Invisalign would work for you can do a self assessment (http://www.invisalign.com/WillWork/Pages/SelfAssessment.aspx) or schedule an appointment during our up-coming Invisalign promotional day.
